Meet My Team

Andy and Julie are my administration team and are here to ensure that my patients have access to the best patient care when they make contact with us. Ryan and Chao are our anaesthetists and Ruth is our experienced breast care nurse. My team works tirelessly to ensure that when our GPs call asking for help for their patients their enquiries are dealt with in a kind and courteous manner. You can rest assured that when you contact my practice my team is willing to take the time to listen to your needs capably and courteously.

Andy Hampson
Practice Manager

Andy has been an integral part of my team for the past year and joined Chris O’Brien Lifehouse since its commencement in November 2013 as part of the Breast Surgical team. She is passionate about the delivery of high quality patient care and always takes the time to make sure that our breast cancer patients are supported along their difficult journey.

Julie Smith
Medical Secretary

Julie is our newest team member and works closely with Andy to ensure the efficient and smooth running of the practice. Her extensive secretarial skills are an asset in ensuring the prompt delivery of exceptional administration services.

Ruth Mirto
Breast Care Nurse

Ruth is an empathetic, caring and experienced breast care nurse with an extensive knowledge built up over her years working with breast cancer patients both at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Chris O’Brien Lifehouse. Ruth is always ready to answer your questions in a friendly and comforting manner putting your mind at rest at this difficult time.

Dr Ryan Downey

Ryan graduated from Medicine at the University of Sydney. He is a specialist anaesthetist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, Mater and Strathfield Private Hospitals and a number of other private hospitals as well as a clinical lecturer at the Sydney Medical School, University of Sydney. His areas of specialty include breast, urological, head and neck, ENT, upper GIT and obstetric anaesthesia. His academic interests include medical education, simulation and crisis management as well as being heavily involved in doctors’ welfare.

His personal interests include Triathlon and he is a keen follower of the Waratahs Rugby Union team.

Dr Chao-Hsien Ko

Chao-Hsien was born in Taiwan, and grew up in New Zealand, where he graduated in Medicine and completed his internship in Auckland. He moved to Sydney and received his fellowship in anaesthesia after five years of training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He currently has public appointment at Royal Prince Alfred, Canterbury and Concord Hospitals and practises privately at Norwest, Westmead Private and Chris O’Brien Lifehouse. His interests include major and minor colorectal and upper gastrointestinal surgeries as well as breast cancer surgery and obstetric anaesthesia. His goal is to provide a safe and smooth surgical experience peri-operatively for all his patients.
